Nate Diaz‘s attorneys have finally commented on the arrest warrant that was issued for the UFC veteran after he got into a fight this past weekend outside a bar in New Orleans.

After a Misfits Boxing event, Diaz was challenged on camera by a man later identified as Rodney Petersen, who gained notoriety for looking like social media celebrity Logan Paul. The 34-year-old grappling and boxing enthusiast is shown in the video being taken down by Diaz after being placed in a guillotine choke.

A warrant for Diaz’s arrest was eventually issued by the New Orleans Police on grounds of second-degree battery.

“Nate’s attorney Walter Becker can confirm that Nate has received word of the arrest warrant and Becker has been in contact with court authorities in New Orleans,” Diaz’s representative Zach Rosenfield said in a statement sent to MMA Fighting.

“Nate’s attorney looks forward to presenting all of the facts about this incident to the District Attorney which clearly demonstrate that a trained fighter named Rodney Petersen aggressively pursued Nate with the intention of engaging him and once doing so, Nate acted entirely in self-defense. No further comment will be made at this time.”

Videos of the brawl outside a nightclub in New Orleans with reality TV star Chase DeMoor apparently participating after he had a separate altercation with Diaz at the Misfits Boxing 6 event where Chris Avila, Diaz’s longtime buddy and comrade, was competing, were captured on several different occasions.

When police finally came, they dispersed the street brawl.

After Petersen received medical attention for his wounds, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Diaz. Later, Petersen promised to exact revenge on Diaz and shared a video online purportedly depicting the horrific head injuries he reportedly had after tumbling to the ground during the altercation.
