Nate Diaz wants to earn a UFC title by going back to the octagon.
Since his boxing bout against Jorge Masvidal in July of last year, the 39-year-old has not been spotted in action. Nate Diaz and “Gamebred” performed in California almost five years after their bout at UFC 244 in New York City. Over the course of ten rounds, the two previous championship contenders traded blows, with both landing powerful shots. Nevertheless, Diaz prevailed by a majority determination.
Nate Diaz hasn’t mentioned going back to the cage or ring since that victory last summer. After defeating Tony Ferguson via fourth-round submission in September 2022, he infamously left the UFC and became a free agent for the first time in almost twenty years. Although he discussed a possible grudge match in the cage with Jake Paul with the PFL, that fight never materialized.
Nate Diaz, however, has disclosed the ideal conclusion to his career, with no fights scheduled. The 39-year-old recently hinted a comeback to the UFC in an interview with Full Violence, where he also criticized the organization’s current lineup. Diaz is solely focused on winning a title if he rejoins the company. Despite his impressive career accomplishments, the former title challenger has never taken home a UFC gold medal.
Nate Diaz, a former UFC championship contender, expresses interest in going back to the octagon to “get a title.”
“You’re not getting credit anyways, so you might as well keep that s*it going forever.” Nate Diaz stated to Full Violence in a recent interview. “That’s why I plan on fighting forever. Well, everybody is boring right now. So I’m trying to do other s*it for the moment, but I want to go back and get a UFC title. You know, I don’t want to fight for nothing, I want to fight for something.”
He continued, “Right now, there’s nobody that’s that entertaining. Who’s the champion right now at 170? See, exactly. That’s what I’m saying. Why would I go back to the UFC right now to fight [Belal Muhammad]? It’s about buzz and who’s popping and who’s doing something. Right now, there’s nobody doing s*it in the UFC. There’s f*cking ‘Poatan’, and there was [Israel] Adesanya too, he’s still there but he’s not doing much right now… I’m watching, I’m hoping for something [exciting].”
“…Yeah, there’s no buzz, there’s nobody to fight.” Nate Diaz concluded. “Everybody’s wack. Everybody in boxing and MMA.”
