In a recent interview, Ian Machado Garry, the No. 7-ranked welterweight, shared his thoughts on Colby Covington stepping in to face Joaquin Buckley at UFC Tampa. Garry, who was originally scheduled to fight Buckley, has now been moved up to face Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310.
Garry didn’t hold back in expressing his frustration, stating, “Oh, he just magically f**king re-appeared out of thin air. Just came out of nowhere, didn’t he? ‘Oh yeah, I’ll do it.’ It just shows he’s a coward. It proves that he never, ever, ever wanted to fight me in the first place.”
Ian Machado Garry went on to say, “He talks out of his a** and he’s not willing to back it up. He would never, ever, ever in a million years step into that octagon with me and face his fears because I am the man he fears the most.”
Ian Garry says he wants to beat Shavkat Rakhmonov “early” at #UFC310, and fight Colby Covington a week later at #UFCTampa 😳
“I would love to beat Shavkat, and the following week… bury Colby Covington and leave him dead and done.”
