UFC is finally coming back to the United Arab Emirates after 5 years away. The Ultimate Fighting Championship fight promotion has confirmed that they are back in the country. UFC announced that they are holding UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi.
Not only has the company returned, but they have also returned with a 5-year deal of hosting events in the country for the next 5 years.
This is not the first time that the UFC is hosting an event in Abu Dhabi, as they have held two events previously — once in 2014 and the first one in 2010. They made history with the 2010 event, as it was the first one to be held outdoors. It was held in open-air arena on Yas Island, adjacent to Abu Dhabi.

Dana White discussed coming to Abu Dhabi and the promotion’s reasoning behind the decision as well.
“We are making a long-term commitment to Abu Dhabi because we have had great success in that market. The demand from our fans to bring UFC back to Abu Dhabi has been overwhelming, and over the next five years, DCT Abu Dhabi will help us deliver some spectacular UFC championship fights to the UAE. I’m very excited about this partnership and what it will mean for the growth of this sport and for UFC in the region.”
The fights are not yet determined for the event, but it will feature at least one title bout to headline the night. UFC 242 will take place on the 7th of September.
