On 24 January, the martial arts stars of ONE 170 delivered an epic night of action-packed fights that will live on in fans’ minds for a long time.
The crowd inside Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, and the millions watching around the world were treated to finish after finish. Of the 12 bouts, nine ended early while three went to judges’ scorecards.
In the main event, ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai cemented his legacy by dropping the striking legend Superbon three times in first round, earning a TKO victory via the three-knockdown rule.
Their last fight went the distance, and fans were expecting another tough contest, but Tawanchai came with a different plan altogether. With that memorable win, he not only retained his belt but also earned a US$50,000 performance bonus.
In the second ONE World Title fight of the evening, Fabricio Andrade defended his ONE Bantamweight MMA World Title in spectacular fashion, folding Kwon Won Il with a devastating liver shot and then finishing him with ground-and-pound in just 42 seconds.
One of the biggest surprises came in the ONE Interim Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship fight, when young 6-foot-4 phenom Nabil Anane snapped Nico Carrillo’s 15-fight win streak to claim the strap.
