The long-awaited MMA debut of Garry Tonon is set to happen in the ONE Championship. Tonon will be fighting at ONE: Iron Will which is set to take place in Bangkok, Thailand on March 24, 2018.
Tonon, who is considered to be one of the best grapplers in the current generation, will be facing Richard Corminal at the event. Corminal holds a professional record of 4-3 to his name and all four of his wins have come via knockout.

The Lightweight fighter is based out of Malaysia but is actually from the Philippines. He also has two fights in ONE Championship to his name. He lost both these matches via first-round stoppages to Shannon Wiratchai and Arnaud Lepont respectively.
As part of preparing for the MMA debut, Tonon is currently training at Trystar Gym in Montreal which is also home to former UFC champion Georges St. Pierre. Tonon’s achievements in the grappling scene speak for themselves.
He started training during his fifth grade and soon landed up under the legendary Tom deBlass. Tonon is still considered to be one of the best students of deBlass. Not only has this, Tonon holds won over some major MMA names such as Dillon Danis, Shinya Aoki, and Marcin Held among others.
Tonon has already fought under the ONE championship banner. He had faced Shinya Aoki in a high-profile grappling match back at ONE: Dynasty of Heroes. Tonon managed to submit Aoki in the showdown.
Other big fights on the card
The main event of the night will feature a Bantamweight championship showdown between Bibiano Fernandes and Martin Nguyen. Nguyen will be looking to add a third title to his name as he is already the promotion’s Lightweight and Featherweight champion.
Alain Ngalani is another name that’s worth watching out on the card. Ngalani will be facing Ariunbold Tur-Ochir at the event.
