ONE Championship is set to light up the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, this Saturday, August 3, with a thrilling lineup for ONE Fight Night 24.
The card promises to deliver an action-packed showcase, featuring 12 electrifying bouts — including two highly anticipated World Title matches.
Headlining the event is the interim ONE Strawweight MMA World Title clash between former divisional king Jarred Brooks and #3-ranked contender Gustavo Balart.
Brooks has been a formidable presence in the promotion since his debut. His first major victory came in November 2021 when he decisively defeated Lito Adiwang.
“The Monkey God” continued his ascent by overcoming notable top-five ranked opponents such as Hiroba Minowa and Bokang Masunyane, eventually earning a title shot against Filipino superstar Joshua Pacio.
In December 2022, the American bruiser captured the strawweight belt from Pacio in a closely contested five-round battle.
However, his reign was short-lived. This past March, Brooks faced Pacio in a rematch, but his title defense ended controversially with a disqualification for an illegal slam, allowing his fierce rival to reclaim the championship.
With Pacio now sidelined due to an ACL injury, Brooks has the opportunity to set up a potential unification encounter next year. But standing in his way is Balart, a former Olympic wrestler from Cuba who has been on a remarkable run. “El Gladiador” is on a four-fight winning streak, which includes victories over former World Champions Alex Silva and Yosuke Saruta.
Balart’s recent triumph over Minowa has solidified his position in the top-five rankings, and he is poised to pose a serious threat to Brooks’ aspirations.
Meanwhile, Danielle Kelly graces the show’s co-feature attraction to defend her ONE Atomweight Submission Grappling World Championship against Mayssa Bastos.Kelly has emerged as a rising star in the submission grappling world, boasting an undefeated record in her four appearances under the organization’s banner.
Her crowning achievement came in September 2023 when she seized the division’s inaugural World Title with a hard-fought decision over Jessa Khan. Now, she faces the stiffest test of her career yet in Bastos. Bastos is a Brazilian grappling sensation renowned for her success in the lighter weight classes.
The 26-year-old owns an impressive resume with nine IBJJF World Titles, and her emphatic promotional debut earlier this year signaled her intent to claim the top spot in the division.
For fans in India, ONE Fight Night 24 will be broadcast live on Disney+ Hotstar and Star Sports Select 2, starting at 5:30 a.m. (IST) on Saturday.
