Jonathan Di Bella became the undisputed ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Champion on October 3, defeating defending titleholder Prajanchai PK Saenchai via unanimous decision at ONE Fight Night 36 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Italian-Canadian interim champion established control early by using his reach advantage to land jabs and straight left punches while keeping Prajanchai at distance with low kicks. Di Bella’s strategy frustrated the Thai defender through the opening rounds as Prajanchai struggled to close the gap and implement his boxing combinations.
Prajanchai mounted a comeback in the middle rounds, finding openings in Di Bella’s defense and landing left hooks and right punches as his confidence grew. The fourth round featured intense exchanges from both fighters, with Prajanchai adding step-in knees while Di Bella utilized spinning back kicks.
The decisive fifth round saw Di Bella’s superior output overwhelm Prajanchai’s attempts to defend his title. All three judges awarded Di Bella the victory, improving his record to 15-1 and earning him a US$50,000 performance bonus from ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong. The win avenged his only career loss against Prajanchai.
In the co-main event, Myanmar legend Aung La N Sang concluded his MMA career with a second-round TKO victory over former welterweight champion Zebaztian Kadestam in middleweight action. The 40-year-old former two-division champion overcame early caution to dominate the second round with punches and knees before finishing with ground strikes at 2:20.
Following the victory, ONE Championship announced that Aung La N Sang will be inducted into the ONE Championship Hall of Fame at ONE 173 in Tokyo, Japan, on November 16. The win marked his 31st career victory and earned him a US$50,000 bonus.
