The hottest series in combat sports returned with a bang ahead of the weekend’s huge double-header on Friday, May 2, inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium.
Before ONE Fight Night 31: Kongthoranee vs. Nong-O II took the baton, ONE Friday Fights 106 got things underway with 12 more action-packed bouts of Muay Thai, MMA, and kickboxing — with seven finishes to boot.
The main event saw Panrit Lukjaomaesaiwaree end his string of misfortune as he ran through Suksawat PK Saenchai in less than two minutes of their 140-pound Muay Thai tilt.
The Thai star refused to let his compatriot get his feet under him as he rushed Suksawat with rapid hooks and ripping kicks to state his intentions.
The debuting Suksawat remained distant after feeling his power, but Panrit refused to let up as he eventually stuck a huge left hook to his foe’s liver to end the bout immediately at 1:55 of round one.
In the featured bout of the night, rising star Rustam Yunusov kept his unbeaten record intact with a first-round finish of Liverpool’s Alfie Ponting in flyweight Muay Thai action.
The Russian puncher made his intentions clear from the get-go, and there was no getting away from it for Ponting. Yunusov lit up the English youngster with multiple body shots before slamming a kick into Ponting’s rib cage that rendered him down and out in just 1:50 of the bout.
