ONE Friday Fights 111 kicked off another huge double-header for ONE Championship as 12 more bouts across Muay Thai, kickboxing, and MMA took over Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, 6 June.
The main event of the evening saw Petsukumvit Boi Bangna return to the win column as he ended Silviu Vitez with a blistering knockout in the second round of their flyweight Muay Thai tilt.
Vitez asserted himself in the early moments, pressuring Petsukumvit who took his time growing into the battle. “Hitman” made the most of that, landing significant head strikes and low kicks to his man as his confidence grew. But that wouldn’t last forever.
The two-time Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion entered the second round with a much different attitude as he stormed toward the Romanian. He quickly closed the distance and planted a well-timed left hook to drop Vitez.
Vitez managed to rise to his feet, but there was blood in the water as Petsukumvit rained down strikes to floor the 31-year-old once more. Knowing the end was near, the Thai star refused to let up with another barrage of strikes to end the fight at 1:40 of round two.
Elsewhere, Filipina phenom Islay Erika Bomogao carved out her first stoppage win in ONE as she obliterated Spanish star Nera Rubio in just 65 seconds of their 103-pound Muay Thai affair.
Given Bomogao’s hype, Rubio wanted to show she wasn’t afraid to engage. She set her foot on the gas immediately, landing strong punches to start.
But Bomogao was lying in wait, patiently seeking the right moment. And when Rubio stepped in, the 24-year-old threw a sharp straight right that stabbed her foe in the abdomen and sent her to the mat at 1:05 of round one, unable to continue.
That enabled the 24-year-old to earn the fourth win of her career overall and moved her to 3-0 in ONE as her momentum continues to build in the weekly series.
