The final chapter of Aung La N Sang’s storied career ended exactly as he envisioned, with a second-round TKO victory over former ONE Welterweight MMA World Champion Zebaztian Kadestam at ONE Fight Night 36 on 4 October.
The Myanmar legend’s performance in his retirement bout earned him more than just a perfect ending – the US$50,000 bonus reward and confirmation of his ONE Championship Hall of Fame induction on 16 November at Tokyo, Japan, set the stage for an emotional celebration of his legacy.
Aung La N Sang becomes only the third fighter inducted into ONE Championship’s Hall of Fame, joining elite company alongside Demetrious Johnson and Bibiano Fernandes.
The prestigious recognition resonates deeply with the former two-division ONE World Champion who dedicated decades to martial arts excellence.
“It’s very cool. You work so hard for this, decades of hard work, and then it comes to this moment where you’re honored by the promotion and by the people. It’s a dream come true. I am very grateful and very thankful for this,” the Florida-based fighter revealed.
His middleweight victory over the 34-year-old Swedish striker improved his ONE Championship record to 16 wins and 31 career victories, but the immediate aftermath saw the legend still processing what he’d accomplished.
“It felt good. It hasn’t soaked in, but I’m sure it’s going to be one for the ages. I’m just very appreciative that it all went well, and all the preparation and hard work came to this,” Aung La N Sang reflected.
Throughout his two-decade professional journey, deeper forces sustained the former ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion beyond championship ambitions.
“My love for this sport. My love for becoming a better version of myself, and my faith in God,” he said.
