Conor McGregor has always remained at the top of his popularity, no matter if he is active or not. When he’s away from the Octagon, the former double champ’s acts are always on the headlines- most recently for his repeated callout of YouTuber-turned boxers.
If the right pieces fall into place, will McGregor ever square off against a YouTuber-boxer? Tyron Woodley believes so, but has only one fighter in his mind who may get the chance to box the Irish superstar.
Tyson Woodley says Logan Paul is the only YouTuber the UFC would permit to fight Conor McGregor
McGregor, for years, has dismissed the idea of fighting YouTuber-boxers, even though many of his compatriots have jumped the bandwagon and landed huge paychecks. The top of the celebrity fight game is of course, Jake Paul, who has faced the likes of Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva.
While McGregor had been one of his earliest wishes, “The Notorious” had always dismissed the idea, until recently, when the former Featherweight and Lightweight champ likened the idea of fighting KSI.
Woodley, the former UFC welterweight champion, however, believes KSI is a far fetched idea and someone that Dana White would never allow to fight McGregor. Instead, he believes the only YouTuber who has a chance to fight McGregor is Logan Paul.
“The fight can’t even happen, it can’t happen unless Daddy Dana approves it,” said Woodley in a recent YouTube video featuring TMZ Sports founder Evan Rosenblum. “And I can’t see Daddy Dana approving KSI or Jake for the simple fact he doesn’t want them to look like they’re on his level. He doesn’t want them to look like they’re branded ’cause you’re gonna have to bring in Misfits, you have to bring in MVP involved in the promotion, right?”
Pointing out Logan’s Maverick promotion and how his drink Prime is a sponsor of the UFC, Woodley sees a Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul super fight having some chance of actually taking place.
“The Logan Paul situation is different,” Woodley added. “Logan technically has a Maverick promotion that he really doesn’t utilize a lot, right? And he is a sponsor of the UFC, Prime drink.”
