Paddy Pimblett Aiming To Fight At UFC 282 On Dec 10

Rising UFC superstar Paddy Pimblett revealed this week that he is eager to fight on UFC 282 is the last numbered card of 2022, on December 10th, in Las Vegas, and claimed that the promotion has been working to find an opponent for him at the event.

“UFC 282, I’m planning on fighting on that — Dec. 10,” said Pimblett during the Cage Warriors 144 broadcast on Friday, “So I’m just waiting for an opponent, lad. I’m waiting for someone to step up and sign on the dotted line. Everyone talks about ‘The Baddy,’ everyone talks about fighting me. But then the contract’s in front of them, you know, they’re not as confident.” [H/T MMA Junkie]

A former Cage Warriors featherweight champion, Pimblett has a record of 19 wins and three losses. On his UFC debut in September 2021, the Englishman defeated Brazilian Luigi Vendramini and in the same year, he beat Rodrigo Vargas and Jordan Leavitt.

In recent months, many fighters have wanted to share the Octagon with the charismatic ‘The Baddy’. Bobby Green, Ilia Topuria, Jared Gordon, Matt Frevola, Terrance McKinney, and others lobbied to get the fight. However, as per Pimblett, none had actually signed the contract.

“I don’t think I have anyone avoiding me, I don’t think they would avoid me because I don’t look so scary. With my style and all, they look at it and think, ‘I’m going to beat him.’ I have the recognition and followers they don’t. So everyone will try to beat me to steal my hype, but no one will,” he added.

Despite being challenged by many names, Pimblett preferred neither to name any possible rivals nor provoke anyone on the division and for that, the 27-year-old had one simple reason, “I’m the star of the show. I don’t need to talk to anyone.”
