UFC fighters Ilia Topuria and Paddy Pimblett, the two rising stars in the promotion are just days ahead of appearing on the undercard at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 204 this weekend. While they have their own set of bouts at the event, Pimblett and Topuria decided to settle the heat between themselves away from the Octagon and in a hotel lobby, the reason being an offensive tweet from last year.

This is not Twitter, this is real life: Ilia Topuria confronts Paddy Pimblett over tweet from last year

In April 2021, Paddy Pimblett made headlines and drew controversy for tweeting, “Lad how stupid are these Georgians man … no wonder the Russians terrorize their lives” and later deleted the post with an apology. However, Ilia Topuria, who is a German-born Georgian, didn’t take the tweet lightly and after almost a year, found the opportunity to give his response to Pimblett, right in person.

The altercation took place just three days ahead of the upcoming UFC Fight Night 204 set to take place at the O2 Arena in London, when Topuria and Pimblett are set to face Jai Herbert and Kazula Vargas on the undercard, respetively.

On Tuesday, Topuria confronted Pimblett at a hotel lobby for that tweet from last year, as he walked right up to the Liverpudlian fighter and swung at Pimblett, who responded by throwing a bottle, followed by both exchanging a couple blows.

The skirmish was broken up after 15 seconds without any serious consequences following. However, its clear that Topuria has not forgiven Pimblett for the tweet despite “The Baddy” apologizing for his words, and soon after the incident at the lobby, the Georgian took to Instagram to post the altercation along with some fiery words for Pimblett.
