Paddy Pimblett does aspire to be a UFC champion one day, but there’s something that the Scouser even values more than tasting gold in the Octagon.

The up-and-coming 155-pound fan favorite in the UFC, Paddy Pimblett is gearing up to end his nearly a year-long hiatus with a superb matchup this weekend- against none other than Tony Ferguson. The two will be in action at UFC 296 this Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.

“The Baddy” had his last outing in the Octagon dating back to December 10th last year, when he defeated Jared Gordon at UFC 282, a fight that ended in huge controversies and raised many eyebrows. However, now Pimblett has the chance to shut the critics as he prepares for a showdown against “El Cucuy” Ferguson, the former interim lightweight champ who is on a six-fight losing streak.

Paddy Pimblett wants Anfield main event in 2024

A victory this Saturday night may not put Pimblett in the lightweight title strife, but the former Cage Warriors champion has something that sits above a UFC Gold in his priority list, and no surprise—the Liverpudlian prefers headlining an event at Anfield more than having the UFC belt around his waist.

“Well, they’d have to use a stadium (in Liverpool), because the arena isn’t big enough,” Pimblett told the reporters at the UFC 296 media day this Wednesday. “I know a couple of people at Liverpool Football Club now behind the scenes and they’ve said they’re happy to accommodate for it. So, summer 2024 or 2025, I can get Dana in touch with the CEO of the club and he can get it sorted.”

“One of the biggest crowds you’ve ever seen. Will be about 60-something thousand with the seats on the pitch,” the 28-year-old went on. “(Headlining at Anfield) would probably mean more to me than winning the belt, to be honest.” [H/T MMA News]

Paddy Pimblett’s desire to headline in Liverpool goes way back

Headlining an event at the home of Liverpool Football Club is something that Pimblett has been longing for and its quite well known to the fans. Back in July last year, he had insisted the same when he faced Jordan Leavitt at UFC London, saying that it would be his last fight in the UK until he headlines at Anfield.
