Paige VanZant returning to action against Charisa Sigala at BKFC London event on Aug 20

Paige VanZant, the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) women’s flyweight contender and former UFC fighter, will be returning to action next month as she’s set to face bare knuckle boxing veteran Charisa Sigala at BKFC 27, set to take place on 20th August in London.

After an 8-5 professional MMA record which includes a 5-4 UFC record, Paige VanZant joined BKFC in August 2020, signing a four-bout contract. Despite the move creating ample hype within the combat sports fanbase, VanZant’s much awaited promotional debut in the main event of BKFC Knucklemania in February last year ended in a loss against Britain Hart via unanimous decision.

“12 Gauge” then returned against her former UFC adversary Rachel Ostovich at BKFC 19 but suffered another loss via unanimous decision, putting her bare knuckle record to 0-2 as well as her future with BKFC in question as BKFC President Dave Feldman termed that it was “up in the air”.

Nonetheless, as initially reported by Damon Martin of MMA Fighting, VanZant will be making her third BKFC appearance this 20th August at BKFC 27, taking place at the OVO Arena in London and headlined by Michael ‘Venom’ Page vs Mike Perry.

Looking to get her first BKFC win, VanZant will be up against Charisa Sigala, a former pro MMA fighter who switched to bare knuckle boxing by making her BKFC debut at the same BKFC Knucklemania event, featured on the undercard against Taylor Starling.

Fighting out of California, Sigala has a bare knuckle record of 1-2-1 and made her latest appearance against Angela Danzig at BKFC Fight Night: New York 2 on 12th March. The bout concluded in a majority draw.
