Jake Paul faced the toughest challenge of his professional boxing career this Saturday night against Anderson Silva and still, outpointed the former UFC Middleweight champion to win their clash in Arizona.
Taking on the MMA legend-turned-boxer in the eight round main event of a SHOWTIME PPV at the card from Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Paul performed his best in the squared circle against Silva, before knocking down ‘The Spider’ in the final round.
At the end of the eright round fight, ‘The Problem Child’ clocked scores of 77-74 and 78-73 twice to secure victory over the biggest name in his resume. As per CompuBox stats, Paul outpunched Silva 83 to 79, added with the heavy riht hand counter in eighth, and landed 42% of his total shots.
“It’s a surreal moment. Hard work pays off,” said Paul after his win, “I want to say thank you to Anderson. He was my idol growing up and he inspired me to be great. Without him, we wouldn’t have a fight this year. He’s a tough mofo, like for real. I have a lot of respect for him.”
“I worked hard to do a special show for everybody here,” added Silva, who suffered the second loss in his pro boxing career, “I say thank you for everyone to come. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose but I continue training hard because I was born for this.”
