UFC Middleweight stalwart Paulo Costa is steadfast that not only will he mark a win over Luke Rockhold in their upcoming UFC 278 clash, but he will also retire the former divisional champion after the fight.

Luke Rockhold “will face a monster” on Saturday says Paulo Costa

Costa and Rockhold have taken shots at one another in the buildup to their fight which takes place this 20th of August at the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. The verbal scuffle continued at the UFC 278 press conference this Thursday, during which Costa called Rockhold an “old man” whom he plans to retire this Saturday night.

“I’m on my primetime. I will f**k this old man up on Saturday,” said Costa, “He is visibly uncomfortable because he knows he will face a monster. He knows already. Look at him, He’s uncomfortable. I will retire him on Saturday.”

“Come on, this guy is too old to say this kind of bulls**t. Come on. You are too old to say this kind of bulls**t. He can say this bulls**t. I don’t feed on an older man like he is,” Borrachinha went on, “It doesn’t matter on the day of the fight. We will be close in the same cage, just me and him and we will see who has more energy, who has more power and more will to win this fight.” [H/T BJPenn.com]

Costa, who is on a two-fight losing streak, recently made headlines after his shocking decision to part ways with longtime Wallid Ismail and replaced him with his model girlfriend Tamara Alves.

“I have nothing bad to say about Wallid. He is an honest person and very professional, I just have compliments about him,” Costa said on his YouTube channel, “We just have different views about my career and, because of that, we decided to not work together anymore.” [H/T Sherdog]
