UFC News: Paulo Costa to Israel Adesanya: “I will kill you!”

UFC 253 will feature a title fight of undefeated middleweight titans as champ Israel Adesanya will defend his belt against powerhouse Paulo Costa on September 26.

The stakes are as high as they can be, as one of them will be handed the first-ever loss of their professional career. Therefore, the bad blood between the two has escalated. The duo has been going back and forth on social media even before Adesanya became the undisputed champion.

Recently in an interview with Submission Radio, Costa added another layer to it. He took a jab at Adesanya’s previous title defense against Yoel Romero before making his message ultra-clear. (via BJPENN.com):

“I have just one question,” HE began. “Adesanya, why you freezing when you face Romero? You’re not a real champion, man. You don’t deserve it. I will kill you.”

Adesanya was expected to fight Costa right after he became the middleweight champ at UFC 243 in October last year. However, a shoulder injury had Costa on the sidelines. Adesanya, therefore, defended his title against multiple-time title challenger Yoel Romero.

The fight was expected to deliver fireworks as it did on paper. The fight, however, turned out completely opposite. Both Adesanya and Romero failed to engage, which further led to an uneventful chess match which can be lackluster and boring for a general eye.

Adesanya fires back at Costa!

Adesanya (19-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) wasn’t going to sit back as he wasted no time in firing back at Costa. Speaking with SportsCenter, he had some strong authoritative words for the challenger as well.

“He’s dumb,” Adesanya said of Costa. “He’s dumb and he walks forward and he throws shots. That’s what makes it really exciting, and that’s what I’m looking forward to. I’m looking forward to this big, inflated ignoramus, running up on me, trying to throw shots as I keep moving and sticking him.”

“The only people he ever beat that are worthy of anything as two guys that are ranked, that was Uriah Hall and Romero,” Adesanya said. “Who else has he beat that’s ranked? Who else has he beaten? I can list you four guys that I have, so you have to understand there are levels to this.”
