McGregor vs. Poirier

Even after fighting each other three times the lightweight contenders Conor Mcgregor and Dustin Poirier are not getting over each other. The duo keeps engaging on social media platforms and keeps mentioning each other in their respective interviews. Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier last fought each other at UFC 264, were in an unfortunate incident Conor broke his foot, and Dustin was declared the winner by TKO. The fighting series between the duo now stands still at 2-1 as Dustin won the last two fights but many people including Conor himself will beg to differ.

Dustin Poirier: I'm living rent free in Conor McGregor's head - Bloody Elbow

Dustin in a recent ESPN+ Q&A hosted by Laura Sanko was asked about Conor taking shots at him on the social medial platforms to which he stated that he is living rent-free in Conor’s head.

“It doesn’t really bother me, I don’t really care,” Poirier said during Q&A. “When I think about in hindsight, like today, I was thinking about it like, ‘The guy’s probably losing his mind.’ He can’t really train. He’s got a hurt leg that he’s trying to rehab. Rent free. I’m just living rent free.”

Dustin also showed interest in moving up to the welterweight division and maybe getting the belt there too.

“Of course I would,” Poirier said. “Those are some big guys, man. We’ll see. I definitely can fight at 170. Honestly, now at 155, my metabolism has caught up. When I was cutting to 145, between fights I would get a lot heavier than I do now. I think my body was getting messed up and holding on to a lot of weight. I would shoot up to 190 when I was fighting 145. Now I don’t get past 182. That’s really the max I walk around at. But I think I could fight at 170, too. There are some fun fights there.”

Dustin Poirier won’t mind the 4th fight with Conor

“The rematch, obviously, I knocked him out, so there’s an ending to the fight,” Poirier said on The MMA Hour. “The [third fight], his leg breaks, so you don’t get that same feel. It’s a win on my record for sure, and I was winning, but the second fight, I put him away. The third fight, I don’t know what to say with that. That feeling, especially with the media or fans, people say, ‘You didn’t beat him.’ The second time I got that, ‘You beat him.’”

“We’ll see what happens,” Poirier said. “I’m not sitting back waiting to fight him a fourth time. If it makes sense and it comes about, we’ll do it again. I’m just training and living my life. My daughter just started her first day of school today. I’m having fun trying to continue to grow as a martial artist. I’m not committing to anything. I haven’t spoken to the UFC about the title fight or their timeline. I haven’t been reached out [to] by the company. Anything’s possible, but we’ll go with what makes the most sense.”
