Conor McGregor wants a fourth encounter with Dustin Poirier.
Fourth fight with Dustin Poirier is “a must” says Conor McGregor
The former UFC double champ has been out of action for over two years and in both of his last two outings in the Octagon, McGregor suffered losses against Poirier at UFC 257 and UFC 264 in 2021, while their first encounter back in 2014 at UFC 178 resulted in a victory for “The Notorious”.
The UFC 264 trilogy fight ended with the famous leg fracture of McGregor, who went into a prolonged recovery and even exited from the USADA testing pool, making his return to action uncertain.
As per the latest developments, McGregor has been discussed to face his recent TUF opponent coach Michael Chandler at UFC 300 in April next year, although nothing has been official from the promotion.
Aside from Chandler, Poirier’s name is also in the air for being the possible candidate for McGregor’s comeback. While “The Diamond” is interested to face Justin Gaethje for a trilogy fight in April, a change of mind can potentially put McGregor vs. Poirier 4 into the works.
Earlier this week, McGregor expressed on social media that he is still interested for a quadrilogy with Poirier, terming their saga as “unfinished”.
“Let’s be real, it’s a must. Unfinished,” McGregor wrote in a now deleted post on X.com, while responding to a fan asking him whether he is still thinking to face Poirier for the fourth time.
