Rachael Ostovich attacked by ‘someone close to her’; hospitalised with broken orbital bone

Rachael Ostovich who is scheduled to face fellow strawweight contender Paige VanZant at UFC Fight Night 143 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on 19th January. But it looks like her fight in January is in serious jeopardy, as she was attacked by ‘someone close to her’ in Honolulu, Hawaii.

She has suffered a broken orbital bone in an assault perpetrated by a person that she knows in her native Honolulu according to a report from TMZ. The 27-year-old flyweight is currently hospitalized for major injuries, including a broken orbital bone. Honolulu police are investigating the matter further.

She was supposed to fight in the inaugural UFC’s debut on ESPN+. This matchup is one of the most high profile matchups amongst female fighters in UFC.

Rachael Ostovich last fought in UFC against Montana De La Rosa at the Ultimate Fighter Finale, a fight which she lost via rear naked choke. She has a submission win over Karine Gevorgyan during her UFC debut in December of 2017.

It’s unclear if she has been pulled from her UFC fight in January. Stay tuned for more updates.
