Former UFC fighter Rachael Ostovich who competed in the Flyweight division after leaving the promotion has now signed with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

Ostovich, a four-fight UFC veteran who parted ways with the organization in December following a three-fight losing skid, has inked a deal to step into the bare-knuckle ring.

Yesterday, BKFC announced Ostovich’s signing with the promotion, which comes four months after she was released from her UFC contract after facing back-to-back losses. A rematch between Ostovich and VanZant is targeted for June or July, though an exact date was not available and negotiations for the bout are ongoing.

A BKFC news release said she will make her promotional debut in July.

“We always are looking to sign fighters that can move the needle and fight, and that is exactly what Rachael brings to the table,” BKFC President Dave Feldman stated. “I am looking forward to her debut in July. I know she is training hard and working on her boxing every day and we expect very big things from Rachael.”

Rachael Ostovich vs Paige Vanzant could be next

Rachael Ostovich, 30, signed with the UFC in 2017 after a stint on “The Ultimate Fighter 26.” In her UFC debut at the TUF 26 Finale, Ostovich defeated Karine Gevorgyan by a first-round armbar.

In 2018, Ostovich picked up her first promotional loss when she was submitted by Montana De La Rosa at the TUF 27 Finale. In 2019, Ostovich, in her first fight back since a domestic violence case against her husband, returned to meet Paige VanZant. She was submitted by second-round armbar, and with VanZant also signed with BKFC, it’s possible a rematch could come to fruition.

In January 2020, Rachel tested positive for using a tainted supplement and was suspended for eight months as a result. After the conclusion of her suspension, Ostovich’s latest loss came Nov. 28 at UFC on ESPN 18 when she was finished with a body kick and punches by Mazany.

“I am so excited to fight in the fastest growing sport in the world,” Ostovich stated. “I’m looking forward to my debut in July. I have seen and heard great things about BKFC, and am very happy to be a part of the team. Can’t wait to announce the opponent.”

Paige Vanzant has already had her BKFC debut recently. VanZant, who signed with BKFC this past August after running out her previous UFC contract, looks to rebound after a setback in her bare-knuckle debut in February. Facing BKFC vet Britain Hart, she had a slow start and suffered a unanimous decision loss.
