Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rampage Jackson is all set to fight MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko at Bellator 237 which will take place at the Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo, Japan on 29th December.
However, Rampage is already planning his next move as in an interview with TMZ, he revealed that he is willing to move to the sport of boxing.
“I asked Dana White a long time ago, way before Conor McGregor even was around, let me do some boxing. It wasn’t my time, there was nobody for me to fight. I still want to fight a boxing match before I retire,” Jackson said.
Although Rampage expressed his desire to fight inside the ring, he said that he didn’t want any part of current WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder who is coming off of a spectacular seventh-round knockout win over Luis Ortiz last Sunday at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
Rampage Jackson said that he will only fight Wilder if he was offered a $100 million payday. It’s highly unlikely that Rampage would ever get that kind of money to fight Wilder, considering not even heavyweight boxers are making that kind of payday.
“I’ll fight anybody but Deontay Wilder. He’s too tall. Unless they give me like $100 mil, then I’d fight him. I’m keeping it real. I don’t like to fight tall guys with a long reach. I’ll tell you what. I’ll fight him if they give me $100 mil and we do me one boxing match and one MMA match, then I’ll fight him. $100 mil. I’m keeping it real. I don’t like fighting them long, tall dudes,” Jackson said. (H/T – BJPenn.com)
Rampage is coming off of a second-round TKO win over Wanderlei Silva at Bellator 206. Before that, he lost two back to back fights against Chael Sonnen at Bellator 192 and against Mohammad Lawal at Bellator 175.
