Bantamweight contender Ray Borg has pulled out of his fight against Nathan Maness at UFC on ESPN+ 31 taking place this weekend at the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The news was first reported by Nolan King of MMAJunkie.

While the UFC hasn’t announced a replacement for Nathan Maness yet, but according to sources, he will be fighting fellow newcomer to the UFC Johnny Munoz.

This is the second time in little over a month that Ray Borg has had to miss the fight. He was supposed to fight at UFC on ESPN 10 against Merab Dvalishvili but had to pull out of the fight for personal reasons.

Ray Borg is coming off of a split decision loss to Ricky Simon at UFC Fight Night 171 in May earlier this year. He was riding on a two-fight winning streak prior to that having beaten Rogerio Bontorin via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 167 which took place in February earlier this year in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

Before that, he defeated Gabriel Silva via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 4 which took place in July of 2019 at San Antonio, Texas.

On the other hand, Maness lives in Henderson, and he currently has a record of 11-1, fighting in the bantamweight division. He’s a former TKO Mixed Martial Arts champion and was excited to make his UFC debut.

Here’s how the UFC on ESPN+ 31 line up looks like without Ray Borg:

  • Derek Brunson vs. Edmen Shahbazyan
  • Joanne Calderwood vs. Jennifer Maia
  • Randy Brown vs. Vicente Luque
  • Bobby Green vs. Lando Vannata
  • Trevin Giles vs. Kevin Holland
  • Jonathan Martinez vs. Frankie Saenz
  • Ed Herman vs. Gerald Meerschaert
  • Nate Maness vs. Johnny Munoz
  • Markus Perez vs. opponent TBA
  • Vincent Cachero vs. Jamall Emmers
  • Cody Durden vs. Chris Gutierrez
