Former UFC Lightweight Champion and now Welterweight contender Rafael Dos Anjos is still angry at Conor Mcgregor and believes he has no chance against the undefeated UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Dos Anjos in an interview with UFC on Fox Sports talked to Karyn Bryant, Kenny Florian and UFC Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier about a variety of topics including his return, UFC 228 main event featuring Tyron Woodley and Darren Till and of course the much awaited UFC 229 main event between Conor Mcgregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Dos Anjos revealed that he had surgery done for his cauliflower ears after issues while helping Michael Bisping prepare for Georges St. Pierre and is looking for a November return to action.
Talking about Woodley against Till, Dos Anjos said that he felt the decision to give Darren Till a title shot after he missed weight was unfair. He believes if Till does not make weight, he will have an advantage over Woodley but picks Woodley to win if Till shows up on weight due to his craftiness and experience.
Asked whether Tyron Woodley would need to use his wrestling against Till who is a vicious Muay Thai striker, Dos Anjos said,”Well, it is a MMA fight and to fight Till on the feet is putting him in his comfort zone. Tyron is an intelligent fighter who has been in a lot of five round fights and I believe he will defeat Till”.
Speaking about the UFC 229’s marquee main event match up where Dos Anjos has faced the champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and also was scheduled to face Conor Mcgregor before pulling out 11 days before the event with an injured foot. Dos Anjos revealed that he was surprised by Khabib’s ability to control him on the ground. Dos Anjos did not sustain a lot of damage but could not do anything against Khabib’s ground game. He also believes that while Conor has ‘great hands’, once Khabib gets his hands on Conor he has ‘no chance’.
