UFC News: Read why none of the UFC Brasilia fighters were tested for Coronavirus

There were a lot of speculations regarding UFC Brasilia and if the fight will go ahead because of Coronavirus scare. With UFC confirming that the fight is good to go, MMA fans don’t have to worry about not having their sport to watch, unlike other sports.

All the major US sports leagues have suspended their season following the coronavirus epidemic. UFC Brasilia is scheduled to take place in Brasilia tomorrow and will start 3-hours earlier for safety measures.

There was a real chance of the fights getting canceled becasue of two coronavirus cases in Brasilia and the governor of the state suspending all kinds of sporting events and public gatherings.

UFC Brasilia fighters aren’t being tested for Coronavirus

While the fight card will go ahead as scheduled, no audience has been allowed for this fight. The UFC fighters scheduled to take part in this fight card aren’t even being tested for the virus.

CABMMA COO Cristiano Sampaio confirmed the news to Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting.

What we did was follow teams and athletes closely, alongside the UFC, for possible symptoms, and so far no one has presented any,” Sampaio told MMA Fighting. “There was no suspicion even at the weigh-ins, where fighters would be more weaken with the weight cut. The incubation period goes from five to 14 days, which could still result in a negative test.”

We’re taking every measure possible under the current scenario,” Sampaio wrote. (H/T – MMA Fighting)
