Henry Cejudo officially became ‘Champ-Champ’ as he stopped Marlon Moraes in the third round at the main event of UFC 238 in Chicago, Illinois.
The fight was nothing but phenomenal as after getting battered in the first round by Moraes with leg kicks, the flyweight champion Cejudo bounced back to win the second round. In the third round, Cejudo started hitting Moraes with a knee to the body and then took him down and landed several big punches. With less than a minute left on the clock, Cejudo started pounding Moraes with elbows when ultimately the referee Marc Goddard had to step in and wave it off.
The referee of the fight Marc Goddard later took to Twitter to express his awe at the fight, he said that it was the opening exchanges between Moraes and Cejudo were the fastest he has seen in his fifteen-year-long career.
The opening exchanges between Henry Cejudo & Marlon Moraes were the fastest that I’ve ever encountered in 15 years as a ref. Two WORLD CLASS fighters at the absolute pinnacle of this sport – human chess unfolding 6 feet in front of me. Truly amazing, truly grateful.
