The UFC 229 Press Conference featuring Conor Mcgregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov featured some explosive moments from both sides with the first time both Conor and Khabib facing off against each other. This was an opportunity for both fighters to size up their opposition face to face.
The press conference started off with Conor not appreciating the move by UFC to not allow any fans in Radio City Arena, New York. Dana White countered saying that after what happened at UFC 223, he did not want any more problems between the state of New York and the UFC.
After the preamble both fighters trained their guns on each other while answering questions and mainly focused their trash talk around the UFC 223 bus incident. Conor claiming Khabib was too afraid to get off the bus while Khabib saying that Conor could have easily set up a meeting or a fight between them both without bringing 40 men against one.
Conor also quite predictably took the opportunity to proclaim his monetary status after his mega fight with Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather and also declaring that his new venture Proper Whisky will sponsor the UFC 229 event. Unpredictably though, Conor also managed to take the press conference in the direction of a history lesson with comments on Chechnya-Dagestan-Russia conflict as well as the history of his clan the ‘Mcgregors’ in the Scottish history.
Conor also revealed that he has some dirt on Khabib’s outspoken manager Ali Abdel Aziz when he got into a shouting match with him.
It will be interesting to see the fallout from all the claims thrown in the press conference and its effect on both Conor and Khabib to see who emerges the victor in the psychological battle.
