Ritu Phogat Credits Fan Support After Latest ONE Championship Win

If you’ve been impressed with Ritu Phogat’s run in ONE Championship over the last year, you should be even more excited for what’s to come.

Phogat’s latest statement was a dominant win at ONE: BIG BANG last Friday, where she starched Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres via first-round TKO.

Afterward, “The Indian Tigress” made a pact with her fans back home.

“I promise to carry the same momentum to 2021 and come back even stronger for my next fight,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

Of course, that promise begs the question: How much stronger can she get? Since making her promotional debut in November 2019, the former wrestling star has defeated all of her mixed martial arts opponents.

First, it was Nam Hee Kim by first-round TKO. Then it was Chiao Chen Wu by decision. Phogat followed that victory with a second-round TKO of Kun Khmer World Champion Nou Srey Pov. And last Friday, it was Torres.

Ritu Phogat thanks her fans and team

But even with so much success, Phogat refuses to take all the credit. Instead, she’s quick to praise her team at Evolve MMA in Singapore along with her fans in India.

“Your love, support, and prayers all worked,” Ritu Phogat said.

“I can’t thank enough my coaches, my team, my country for believing in me and supporting me throughout my journey so far.

“It’s a team effort, and I am enjoying my run.”

While Phogat has no set date for her next mixed martial arts contest, ONE recently announced an upcoming Atomweight World Grand Prix. Given Ritu Phogat’s 4-0 mark in the promotion, many observers believe she’s earned a spot in the tournament.

After all, the Indian star would likely give any atomweight opponent a run for their money right now. And who wouldn’t love to see her clash with the likes of former two-sport ONE Atomweight World Champion Stamp Fairtex?

Ritu Phogat, however, doesn’t seem overly concerned with that right now. She’s just enjoying the ride and thankful for all of her fans.

“Thanks once again to everyone who is watching and supporting me in my MMA journey. It’s the beginning of something special,” she said.

Up next for ONE Championship is ONE: BIG BANG II, a previously recorded event from the Singapore Indoor Stadium that airs this Friday, 11 December. Download the ONE Super App to catch all the action.
