Robert Whittaker is one of the main attractions of the UFC middleweight division. The former champion scored a victory against Marvin Vettori in his last appearance at UFC Paris earlier this month. With the positive result, the New Zealander is once again closer to the possibility of obtaining a 185-pound title shot.
I’m the most dangerous… I can beat anyone in the division: Robert Whittaker
Now, in a recent interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Whittaker iterated about carving his path into the championship fight. In his statements, the 1st ranked UFC middleweight fighter made it clear that he will continue to move up in the division and challenge whoever has the belt. Whittaker also stated his belief that he is the most dangerous man in the division.
“I know that I have one more shot against Izzy if that’s what it is or if he gets dethroned I definitely have another shot at gold,” said Whittaker. “I think getting that third fight with Israel will be a deciding point for that or whoever else it is. Definitely [there will be a third fight with Adesanya,]. It would be silly not to because I’m just running through everybody else. Especially the way the second fight left off, I’d have to have come the closest since he’s gotten the title to taking it back off him.”
‘The Reaper’ has lost twice against Israel Adesanya, the reigning UFC Middleweight champion. Despite being 0-2 against Izzy, Whittaker not only believes a trilogy fight is inevitable but also opines that ‘The Last Stylebender’ is not nearly as dangerous as himself inside the Octagon.
“I’m the most dangerous man in the division,” Whittaker went on, “Izzy, he’s the champion of the division, he beat me the last fight as well. He’s a great fighter. But I’m the most dangerous man. I can beat anyone in the division. That last fight against Israel I got within a hair’s breadth of taking everything away from him. Just the fights that I’ve been in and the opponents that I’ve had, I’m not just beating them. I’m flogging them. There’s a difference in that.”
