Last Sunday, Robert Whittaker lost his UFC middleweight title after getting knocked out by Israel Adesanya in the second round in the main event of UFC 243 which took place at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

Even though the loss was disappointing for the Aussie, he made it clear during the post-fight interview that he was not going anywhere and he will be back stronger.

Now the former champion already has a return date in mind. Speaking on the Grange TV podcast, he said that he plans to return back to the Octagon by February or March next year.

I’m not looking to take a long time off,” Whittaker said. “Obviously I have to give myself the appropriate amount of rest time for my brain, but I want to get back in there, and I want to just get back to work.

If my health is all on point, on check, February, March next year. That’s not out of the ordinary. I think that would be good.”

Robert Whittaker was riding on a nine-fight winning streak having beaten the likes of Yoel Romero, Uriah Hall etc, before losing to Adesanya last weekend. He also said that he has lost before in the UFC and he will bounce back again like before. He had earlier lost to Stephen Thompson and Court McGee in the promotion.

People may not know this, but I’ve lost before,” Whittaker explained. “I’ve lost before, and I’ve came back better, and that’s exactly what I intend to do. I’m under no illusion that I was unbeatable; everybody can beat everybody on the given day, and I’m just going to lick my wounds, I’m going to get back on the mats on Monday, and I’m just going to start training again and try to just beat the next guy.” (H/T – BJPenn.com)
