Robert Whittaker the former UFC middleweight champion, recently shared his thoughts on Khamzat Chimaev’s wrestling skills and revealed his fight plan for their upcoming bout at UFC 308.

Whittaker, known as “The Reaper,” acknowledged Chimaev’s impressive wrestling credentials but emphasized that he doesn’t intend to engage in a wrestling match. “He very well might be the best wrestler in the UFC,” Whittaker said, “but I’m going to be doing my hardest to not wrestle with him. I’m going to try and take the fight into my own strengths.”

Robert Whittaker’s strategy is clear: he plans to avoid Chimaev’s strengths and instead focus on his own abilities. “I’ve heard it’s really good,” he added, referring to Chimaev’s wrestling, “he says it’s good, everybody else agrees, so show me. I’m ready. I want it.”

Robert Whittaker Shows Confidence Ahead of UFC 308

Coming off back-to-back impressive performances against Paulo Costa and Ikram Aliskerov, Robert Whittaker is confident in his preparation. “I’m expecting him to come out hard and aggressive from the first second to the last. I have prepared accordingly for that. I’m ready to sprint for 25 minutes if so, and I’ve come here for war. I look to go into this fight hunting him. Much like I planned to last fight, I look  to do again this fight. I’m the hunter in this fight, I’m the predator, I’m gonna be looking for him.”

The stakes are high for both fighters. Whittaker is aiming for a title shot, while Chimaev is looking to silence any doubters and solidify his place as a top contender. The winner of this bout could potentially challenge the current middleweight champion, Dricus du Plessis, or Sean Strickland, depending on the timeline of their rematch.
