Bellator welterweight champion Rory MacDonald is all set to fight John Fitch at the SAP Center in San Jose, California this weekend live in DAZN. Ahead of the fight, he talked about the Bellator welterweight GP.
This fight at Bellator 220 is the first fight of the Welterweight tourney. MacDonald is coming off of a second-round TKO victory against Bellator middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi at Bellator 206 in September of 2018 at the similar arena.
After losing his shot at the middleweight title, MacDonald has moved down and is challenging a seasoned veteran in John Fitch and according to him, the weight cut for the fight is going great.
“Not really,” MacDonald told BJPenn.com. “I feel like my cut has gone great. I asked God to help me through this weight cut. I did put on some muscle in my offseason, but my diet was really good. Just like I pray to God to help me through this weight cut and everything. It’s been very comfortable and I think it will continue to [be]. Cause the hardest part is tonight – tomorrow.
“Douglas Lima looked really impressive against [Andrey] Koreshkov,” MacDonald said. “I think he will probably be in the finals and I believe that I will finish Jon, finish Neiman, and I’ll also finish Douglas Lima and I do believe Douglas is my strongest test in the tournament.”
