Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing, the first boxing promotional company ever to sign an exclusive streaming contract with the UFC Fight Pass, has recently announced the extension of their deal. UFC Fight Pass, the renowned subscription-based video streaming service is owned by Zuffa, the parent company of the mixed martial arts top drawer, and the content agreement with RJJ Boxing has been extended through the current year.
Working alongside UFC Fight Pass has been a tremendous experience: RJJ Boxing president
RJJ Boxing was founded by the former 10-time, four-division world champion boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. and Keith Veltre in 2013, the same year when UFC Fight Pass was launched. There have been a total of 29 events of RJJ Boxing on the UFC Fight Pass, despite the critical situation amidst the prevalent COVID-19 pandemic as well as one instance of a boxing shutdown.
The RJJ Boxing events have originated from seven US states so far- California, Florida, Washington, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, and Mississippi, as well as three other countries- Mexico, Russia, and Japan. Their roster features former two-time WBO super-flyweight title challenger Aston Palicte (26-4-1, 22 KOs), reigning NABF super flyweight champion Jade Bornea (15-0, 10 KOs), and many more prospects.
“Working alongside UFC Fight Pass truly has been a tremendous experience in and of itself,” RJJ Boxing president Lisa Veltre commented on the extension of the deal, “Teaming with the UFC organization has made the past few years more enjoyable. The UFC Fight Pass team made each show that we produced fun, which helped us love what we did even more.”
“We could have easily thrown our hands up during the Pandemic and closed the doors,” the president went on, “Instead, our organization rallied together, along with other promoters, and we pushed forward to keep Roy Jones Jr. Boxing relevant within the boxing community. Taking our events to various cities in Mexico was a slight challenge due to restrictions put upon us because of COVID-19 but we are bigger and better than ever and huge part of that is due to Del O Promotions, Terry Hollan, and Guy Taylor.”
“I also want to thank our announcers for their contributions. The past few years we’ve worked with Sean Wheelock and James ‘Smitty’ Smith, who is our permanent blow-by-blow announcer, and we brought on Amber Dixon as the new color commentator. Thomas Trieber is our lead ring announcer and Chris Guzzetta from 21 Lakes has been our producer since our first event on UFC Fight Pass.”
“2022 is going to be a great year for the RJJ Boxing. We are going to promote all over the country in different venues. We’re excited to work with different sanctioning bodies for their title belts. These fighters are ready to show the world what they have to offer, and RJJ is excited to help them showcase their talent and celebrate their success,” Veltre signed off. [H/T Boxingscene.com]
