Russian Mixed Martial Arts Promotion Fight Night Global is finally launching in India and has joined hands with Mixed Martial Arts Federation of India. The news was revealed by Fights Nights Global President Kamil Gadzhiev in an interview with Russian outlet TASS.
“I watch with great interest what is happening in Indian sports. All this impresses me very much. In general, Russia and India are close countries, we grew up on Indian films, we understand the culture of this country. Cricket in India is one of the iconic sports stories in world. I would like us to use this correct experience in MMA in India,” he said.
Hajiyev said that he plans to visit New Delhi and Mumbai in mid-December. “I think we can create a headquarters for Fight Nights Global in India so that competent specialists, of whom there are many in this country, are engaged in the search for talents and the promotion of MMA,” the head of the company said.
Fight Night Global will promote Indian fighters internationally
According to him, Fight Nights Global will eventually be able to operate fully in India. “This is the organization of tournaments and the promotion of Indian fighters outside the country – in Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus,” he explained.
Hajiyev positively assesses the prospects for the development of martial arts in the South Asian republic. “In India, they are absolutely definitely there. We will now study the industry in more detail when we visit this country,” he said.
Earlier, Deputy Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in New Delhi, Evgeny Griva, told TASS that one of the leading federations of mixed martial arts in India, MMAFI and Fight Nights Global are discussing a partnership to promote and develop mixed martial arts and sambo in the South Asian republic. According to Griva, “the basis of such a partnership will be the tremendous growth of interest in MMA in India, the demand for opening sections, attracting coaches, holding tournaments, the vast experience and authority of Fight Nights in this area.” He drew attention to the fact that the large Indian company Khemka Global Infrastructure is already planning to provide financial support at the launch stage and develop a profitable commercial project of Russian-Indian trade and economic cooperation.
