Ovince Saint Preux thinks his former opponent, Jon Jones will have success at heavyweight and can have great success at that weight class.

Leading to his fight at UFC on ESPN+ 34, Ovince Saint Preux chatted with the reporters on Wednesday during a media conference where he shared his views on Jon Jones moving up at heavyweight division. Saint Preux who is 24-14 MMA and 12-9 in the UFC discussed his light heavyweight fight against Alonzo Menifield and his return from the heavyweight division and also shared what he thinks about how Jon Jones will perform at the heavyweight division.

Saint Preux and Jones fought at UFC 197 in 2016 for the interim lightweight title. It was Jon Jones’s first fight back from USADA suspension and was able to get the decision win. Since then, Saint Preux and Jones have gone on separate roads of their career with Bones defending the belt and Saint Preux trying to become the top contender again. Beginning of this year, OSP moved up to heavyweight to fight Ben Rothwell but had to face defeat and lost the fight via split decision.

Jon Jones will do well at heavyweight

While talking to Just Scrap Radio on BJPENN.com, Saint Preux said “He won’t have to cut weight. The only difference is, with me, it is me finding out the movement at heavyweight. It is more power at heavyweight but they are a lot slower. He can pick them apart, Just take them into the later rounds and he does that at light heavyweight. If he can do that he should be fine at heavyweight. The thing at heavyweight, the thing about taking shots at heavyweight some of the guys you do not want to take a shot from.”

Saint Preux has just recovered from COVID-19 and is ready to fight against Alonzo Menifield this Saturday at UFC on ESPN+ 34. The fight was supposed to take place two weeks ago but OSP tested positive for COVID-19 and then the UFC had to reschedule the fight until OSP got recovered from COVID-19. Both these fighters are coming off losses and are looking to get back into the win column. As Jones also vacated the UFC light heavyweight belt, it has created more opportunities for the rest of the fighter to get back into title contention. Dominick Reyes is going to face Jan Blachowicz for the vacant light heavyweight championship at UFC 253 which is going to be headlined by Israel Adesanya vs Paulo Costa for the middleweight championship.

It’s also interesting to see what UFC has planned in near future for the former light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
