UFC 252 was set to be the most prominent episode of the 25-year-old Sean O’Malley’s professional MMA career to date.

“Sugar” was one of the most advertised fighters on the card, accepting his own ESPN promotion video, which featured his 12-0 beginning and a few terrific features which he wrote preceding his conflict with Vera.

Sean O’Malley endured his first professional loss in the MMA circuit against the up and coming fighter “Chito” Vera. Sean O’Malley partook in the co-main event for the UFC 252, confronting Marlon Vera at 135 pounds.

“Sugar” was loved by fans and was also the favorite to win the fight before heading into the challenge, yet it was Vera who proved to be the best when it was completely said and done. Right off the bat in the battle, O’Malley experienced a leg injury which restricted his capacity to fight freely.

In the end, Vera seized the opportunity by putting O’Malley off on the ground in a stoppage that seemed untimely.

Sean O’Malley: Future UFC Champ?

In a recent interview, O’ Malley had the following things to say :

We picked the date, we picked the time, and we both walked out. It doesn’t matter what the f**k happens. Whoever wins, how it happens, however they win, wins. He won. It sucks for me, because I lost to someone who I look at as not very good. I look at him, and I’m like, he’s not that good. And I f*****g lost to him. That’s what’s the most frustrating thing. Losing to someone I’m better than. That humble post was a f*****g joke. So for everyone commenting stupid s**t, I’m not humble.”

“Let’s look at his career in five years, let’s look at mine. I’m going to be f*****g world champion, he’s going to be a f*****g journeyman. That’s just what his style is. He wins some, he loses some. He’s slow, but he’s gritty, so he’s going to be able to finish some people after they beat him up for a while. The way his pace was, super slow like that, and I was exploding into shots, I wasn’t gonna get tired and I was just gonna beat his a*s.”

“I don’t know if I was gonna get a finish in that first round. He was tough and he was patient, which was fine, because that’s easier for me, he wasn’t doing anything, he was standing there. It f**king sucks.” (H/T – MMAFighting.com)
