UFC fighter Sean O’Malley has yet again named Gervonta Davis (now known as Abdul Wahid) to have a potential boxing fight in the future. O’Malley is quite confident that he can knock out the boxer, who recently converted to Islam.

Wahid recently made the announcement of his conversion to Islam on December 24 and adopted the new name. However, he is planning to be referred to as Wahid in the future but the fighter’s legal name remains Gervonta Davis. His social media handles have not changed.

As it seems, Gervonta Davis is following the suit of other boxers who have converted to Islam in the past. It includes boxing legends such as Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. Davis said that religion helps people become better human beings and noted that Islam brings accountability and responsibility. He also said that his Muslim name, Abdul Wahid, means “the servant of the one.”

As Sean O’Malley continues to call out top-ranked boxers on social media, he tweeted on December 30 a prediction for his fight with Wahid. He said that he would knock out the WBA lightweight champion in a potential fight.

Sean O’Malley is currently the UFC bantamweight champion. Even before becoming the champ, O’Malley had been pushing for a bout with Gervonta Davis. After Davis recently converted to Islam, O’Malley saw the opportunity to take yet another shot at Davis.

Meanwhile, Davis is a former three-division world champion with a professional boxing record of 29-0. 27 of his wins have been by knockout. Currently, Davis holds the WBA Super Featherweight Champion.

It’s worth noting that Tank made his debut in February 2013, at the age of 18 and trains under the his longtime coach, Calvin Ford, at the Upton Boxing Center in Baltimore. It was also one of his coaches who gave him the nickname “Tank” because his head is disproportionately bigger than his body.

We will have to wait and see if the match between Sean O’Malley and Gervonta Davis takes place.
