Former UFC Middleweight champion Sean Strickland recently spoke about the top MMA promotion snubbing the idea of him fighting YouTuber-turned-pro boxer Jake Paul. It has been noted that ‘The Problem Child’ offered him $1 million to spar.
Jake Paul has impressed pundits with his display inside the ring. He’s sparred with some of the biggest boxers in the world, including Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. he has also targetted several MMA stars. The ‘Problem Child’ has repeatedly taunted UFC’s Conor McGregor, Dana White, and Nate Diaz.
Most recently, he’s been entailed in a verbal spat with Sean Strickland. It comes after he beat up Sneako in a sparring session. Jake went too far and even put a whopping offer for the UFC Middleweight Champion. He put $1 million on the table to spar him ahead of his March 2 return to the ring against Ryan Bourland.
Unfortunately, it seems that Strickland won’t be going ahead with the fight as UFC intervened to nix the potential clash.
Sean Strickland fires back at Jake Paul
Sean Strickland has consistently clashed with Jake on social media, and took to his YouTube channel on February 12 to explain why he will not fight Jake Paul despite the massive offer on the table. He said:
“So, Jake Paul offered me $1 million knowing that it is impossible for me to do that. I actually talked to Hunter (UFC’s Chief Business Officer). I was like, Hunter, I will fight this man. You let Conor McGregor fight Mayweather, this is an easier fight, easier money, can I do that? Hunter explained to me that ‘he sells no fights. When they have fights, they give away tickets, he doesn’t make money, his target audience is children, and they don’t buy pay-per-views,”‘ Sean Strickland said.
“So, a little depressing, because I thought to myself ‘I’ll take a payday beating up this f*cking man’, seems easy enough.”
In addition to this, Sean Strickland stated that Jake “clearly knows” that they are unable to fight for money anytime soon. However, he urged Jake to fly to Las Vegas for a “little powwow.”
“You know as well as I know, what happens in that,” he continued. “I’ll do it for free, I don’t need a check, I don’t need to live stream it. I will do it for free sir. So if that’s something you want, you want to show everyone how big and hard that d*ck is, let me know when.”
Sean Strickland asked Hunter Campbell if he could take Jake Paul’s offer and fight for $1 million, and Hunter said that Jake “sells no fights. They give away free tickets, [Jake] doesn’t make money”
He then tells Jake Paul to fly to Vegas and spar him for free.
