A heavyweight fight has been added to the UFC Fight Night on July 24 between Shamil Abdurakhimov and Chris Daukaus who will be fighting to get a crack in the top 5 rankings of the heavyweight division.
This news was first reported by BJPENN.COM. According to the sources the fight is not announced officially yet and also there is no location for the vent yet. The fight will be an important matchup for these guys as a victory can give these guys a shot at anyone from the top 5 of the division. Shamil is already ranked no.7 in the UFC Heavyweight ranking whereas Chirs is ranked no.10. A victory will move them one step closer to their path to the title shot. The UFC’s heavyweight division is already filled with some killers but there are not many top prospects coming and these two fighters can become the next contender in the division.
Shamil Abdurakhimov and Chris Daukaus fighting to get in the top 5
Shamil Abdurakhimov has been out for almost two years now, he last fought against Curtis Blaydes. He lost that fight in the second round and hasn’t fought since that loss. He was scheduled to fight on multiple occasions but somehow the fights could not take place. He was going to fight Ciryl Gane and Augusto Sakai but both of these fights were scrapped due to undisclosed reasons. No after a long time Shamil has lined up to fight Daukaus and his fans must be hoping that this fight does take place and nothing messes up this time.
He is ranked no.7 in the heavyweight division and a win over a rising fighter like Chris will get him a fight with anyone at the top of the division.
Chris Daukuas is one of the rising prospects of the heavyweight category. He debuted last year and has already got himself in the top 10. He is riding an amazing three-fight winning streak in the UFC with wins over some notable fighters like Parker Porter, Rodrigo Nascimento, and Russian submission artist, Aleksei Oleinik. Before entering the UFC, he was seen fighting in smaller promotions like CES MMA, King of the Cage, and Cage Fury Fighting Championships. A dominant win over someone like Shamil will mark himself as a division’s newest prospect.
This fight card will be headlined by the return of former two-time bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw fighting against Cory Sandhagen for the next title contender spot.
