Anshul Jubli, an Indian mixed martial artist, will make his official UFC debut on October 21 in Abu Dhabi at the highly anticipated pay-per-view event UFC 294: Makhachev vs. Oliveira 2.

The UFC India broadcast at UFC 293 on Sunday announced that the 28-year-old from Uttarakhand would face American lightweight Mike Breeden in the main event that will feature a second title fight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski.

Ahead of the fight, the MMA India Show had the opportunity to chat with Anshul Jubli’s coach Siddharth Singh to talk about the Indian’s UFC debut.

“Yeah I think we you know just like every other Indian we are extremely excited about Anshul’s debut. You know it’s been a long time coming, you know UFC started 30 years ago and we finally have an Indian who’s won the route to the UFC contract and now is getting to fight inside the UFC octagon. So something that by itself is a massive achievement and is something that every Indian can be proud of and and yeah and now just to represent India on such a big platform and on such a big card is an absolutely amazing feat. So yeah we are all very excited, we’re all very proud and we are looking forward to this night
which is going to be a landmark day for Indian MMA.

2) Significance of Anshul Jubli fighting at a big card like UFC 294?

“Yeah, it’s a great, great thing. And it’s also a testament to the UFC for giving us an opportunity to fight in Abu Dhabi. They know for a fact that Anshul has a huge fan following. They also know there are many Indians who live in that area. So they understand that an event in Abu Dhabi is going to get a lot of interest from the Indian fans there and worldwide. So Anshul is completely aware of the opportunity at hand, the scale and the magnitude of this fight and the impact this will have on the task port in the country. So it’s a big thing. He’s taken this fight seriously. He’s trained hard for it and hopefully at the end of the day hopefully he’ll have his hand raised. A lot of things he’s worked on for this fight. Hopefully, he’ll get his hand raised and again that’ll catapult Indian MMA into the next decade almost of growth and prosperity. So yeah, it’s a very significant day for Indian MMA. It’s a very big day for Anshul for Crosstrain Fight Club, for Soma Fight Club because it’s a big card. It’s a big thing.”

3) What do you know about Anshul’s opponent?

“Anshul is fighting an American opponent. He’s fighting someone who is way more experienced than Anshul. He’s got almost double the fights that Anshul has. He’s been training for a lot longer. He’s got more experience definitely, but I think what Anshul brings is his heart and his tenacity to not give up and to keep fighting and that the king of lions spirit. No matter how hard the fight is and we are expecting it to be war, it’s going to be a war, there’s going to be blood, there’s going to be complete mayhem in the fight, but what we know is that Anshul has a bigger heart and he’s not going to give up and he’s going to keep fighting till the very end and he’s going to give everything he has inside that octagon because he’s very keen to make sure that India wins. That’s his whole goal is to make India proud and to make sure India wins inside the octagon. I know for a fact that no matter how the fight goes Anshul is not going to stop, he’s going to keep fighting and I don’t know if his opponent has that. I think that’s going to be the differentiating factor between Anshul and any of his opponents and especially this opponent if they have as much of a heart as Anshul does. So yeah, we’re very excited, it’s going to be a great night and this fight is going to be pretty amazing, something that people will talk about for many years. It’s going to be a war and we are very proud and very excited about this night.”
