Siddharth Singh has a brown belt in BJJ and is an accomplished athlete who has achieved the esteemed silver Mongkol ‘Master’ in Muay Thai, a feat no other Indian has accomplished. In addition to his success as a martial artist, Singh is also dedicated to sharing his knowledge of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) with the next generation of athletes. He currently runs five successful BJJ academies in northern India and has trained over 500 young talents.
Singh’s dedication to empowering women is also noteworthy. He has provided self-defense training to over 5,000 women and has collaborated with established NGOs such as SLAP and Ritinjali to further his efforts.
While speaking with Global Indian Singh revealed what Brazilian Jiu-Jutsu is all about.
“Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is all about body control and joint lock manipulation. It’s not so much about strength,”
Singh has an impressive track record as he is India’s only ADCC(Abu Dhabi Combat Club)Taiwan Title holder and also a British BJJ champion. Siddharth Singh is an inspiration to all those Indians who want to make it in the Combat World one day.
while speaking with Global Indian Singh opened up about how grappling requires focus and hard work in training
“It is an old art and there are an infinite number of techniques and positions. So one needs to go in for training with a specific goal in each training session,”
Siddharth Singh a pioneer of BJJ and Muay Thai in India
India doesn’t have the right infrastructure to promote BJJ, Muay Thai, or any other Combat Sport but Singh wants to change all that, he wants his country to excel in this part of the sporting world too.
“Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand and has been around for hundreds of thousands of years. And in India, it’s been there for less than 10 years. It’s the same with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu,” He said.
He wants to build more BJJ and Muay Thai academies, not only in Northern India but in other parts of India as well. He also wants to promote the less-popular Muay Thai in India
Siddharth Singh is truly one of a kind and India needs to know and respect this sporting hero as much as we know about our cricketers.
