Sijara Eubanks was a vastly unknown prodigy before the shocking news about her headlining UFC 230 for the UFC women’s flyweight title against women’s P4P beast Valentina Shevchenko set the internet on storm. The title plans was later scraped off by the UFC and they booked a new main event for the MSG card between the UFC’s champ champ Daniel Cormier and popular heavyweight Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis. Lewis suddenly found himself in title contention after completing an amazing comeback in the dying seconds of his contest against Alexander Volkov at UFC 229 via a brutal KO and due to his post-fight antics in which he claimed that his “bal*s were hot”. Eubanks has been extremely vocal about the UFC removing her from the title fight and has now blamed Lewis and “bal*s were hot” statement as the reason why she wasn’t able to headline the event.
Eubanks who is now fighting Roxxane Moddafferi in the preliminary card of UFC 230, was recently in conversation with noted MMA journalist Ariel Helwani for ESPN. She said that even though the UFC didn’t give her any official reason behind bumping her to the prelims but she did conclude it was due to Lewis’ post-fight antics. Here’s what she had to say:
I wasn’t given an official reason by the UFC as to why they took the title shot away from me as well as the spot to headline UFC 230 but I concluded that it was because Derrick Lewis’ post-fight interview was just way too cool. His bal*s bumped me from the headline (chuckles).
