Joe Rogan and Neil Young- two belonging to vastly different fields found themselves in polarity after the musician gave the final word to Spotify- to remove either Rogan’s podcasts or his music. The streaming service has reverted back, deciding to remove Young’s music.

Neil Young accused Joe Rogan of spreading misinformation on COVID-19 vaccine

Aside from his contributions to combat sports, Joe Rogan is one of the most prominent figures in modern society and has influenced millions through his renowned “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. The podcast, while cherished by the masses, has often been subjected to criticism and amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in recent times, the UFC commentator has been accused of spreading misinformation regarding the COVID-19 vaccine.

Among Rogan’s critics is multi-time Grammy Award winning musician Neil Young, who had given the ultimatum to Rogan’s manager that he will take down his music from Spotify if the platform doesn’t take any action.

“I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines — potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them,” said Young, “Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule. I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform. They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.”

On Wednesday, Spotify revealed their decision of going with keeping Rogan’s podcasts and removing Young’s music as the artist did not want to share the platform with Rogan, but added that they want the musician to return to the platform.

“We want all the world’s music and audio content to be available to Spotify users. With that comes great responsibility in balancing both safety for listeners and freedom for creators. We have detailed content policies in place and we’ve removed over 20,000 podcast episodes related to COVID since the start of the pandemic. We regret Neil’s decision to remove his music from Spotify but hope to welcome him back soon,” Spotify’s statement read. [H/T MMANews.com]
