Stephen Wonderboy Thompson takes on Vicente Luque at UFC 244

A mouth-watering welterweight clash between former title challenger Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson and Vincente Luque has been added to the already stacked UFC 244 card which is set to take place at the Madison Square Garden in New York on November 2.

Brett Okamoto of ESPN reported the news first.

Breaking: Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson vs. Vicente Luque has been added to UFC 244 on Nov. 2 in NYC, per Dana White. Wonderboy wanted to return to MSG and Luque, 10-2 in the UFC, hails from nearby New Jersey. Fun matchup at 170.” Okamoto tweeted.
Stephen Thompson is currently riding on a two-fight losing streak. He lost his last fight to Anthony Pettis via a brutal knockout. Before that, he suffered a close unanimous decision loss to Darren Till at UFC London in March earlier this year.

Vincente Luque, on the other hand, is riding on a six-fight winning streak. He defeated Mike Perry via split decision last month at UFC Monte Video. His last loss came against Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Night 107 in March 2017.

In the main event, Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal are all set to battle each other and Kelvin Gastelum vs. Darren Till will set the stage for the co-main event.
