Stipe Miocic is regarded as the greatest heavyweight champion of all time. He is the only heavyweight champion to have defended the heavyweight championship three consecutive times and overall has defended the belt 4 times. He owns some notable wins over guys like Francis Ngannou, Daniel Cormier, Fabricio Werdum, Alistair Overeem, Junior Dos Santos, and Mark Hunt.

He won the belt after beating Werdum by a first-round TKO. The first time he lost the title was against Daniel Cormier who had stepped up to become the double champions. He regained the belt from Cormier in an immediate rematch and also defend it against him in their trilogy fight.

Stipe in his last fight fought Francis Ngannou who was coming off of four first-round KO wins. This fight was their rematch as Stipe had already defeated him in their first fight at UFC 220 by decision. In the second fight, Francis Ngannou knocked Stipe Miocic out cold in the second round of the fight and become the heavyweight champion. Since that loss, Stipe hasn’t fought in the octagon. He was rumoured to fight Jon Jones but that fight never got materialized.

Stipe Miocic is now getting eager to fight soon. He revealed that he will be soon having a meeting with the UFC officials and talk about his fighting future for the company.

“We’re going to have a sit down here in September with Dana,” Miocic said. “We’ll figure it out from there. … We’ll hopefully figure that out in the next month. We’ll get there. Dana has been texting me and everything is in negotiations.”

Stipe also talked about his brutal KO loss to Ngannou.

“I haven’t watched it yet,” Miocic said. “I will eventually. I haven’t yet. A lot of things could be better. Unfortunately, it was his night. He caught me with a good punch. What are you going to do? It’s the fight game.”

As Stipe and Ngnnaou both haven’t fought since their fight in March, in the meantime, UFC made the interim title fight between Derrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane.

“An interim belt could’ve been next if I wanted it,” Miocic said. “I probably wouldn’t have taken it, but I would’ve loved to do that. I wanted the opportunity. But yeah, I definitely want a shot at my title to get my belt back.”

“That’s what I would love,” Miocic said. “I don’t know if I would (say title fight or bust). I’m definitely aiming for that. I’m not crying about it or anything, but I just feel like I deserve it.”

Miocic also stated that if he had to fight one person outside of the title fight then that guy would be Jon Jones.

“I’ll fight anyone,” Miocic said. “I’ve said that from Day One. I’ll fight anyone. … I’ll fight anyone they put in front of me, but that’s what you aim for, one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters of all time. He’d be a great athlete to have on my resume.”
