Stipe Miocic wants rematch with Francis Ngannou, hints move to ONE championship

Former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic wants to rematch Francis Ngannou for the heavyweight title or else he would want to try out for other promotions like ONE FC.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic has been on the sideline since his 2nd round ko loss to Francis Ngannou. There has been no information about what’s next for Stipe. As the fighting series between Stipe and Francis is 1-1 many thought that he deserves a trilogy fight against Francis. But there have been no talks about that. UFC first tried to make the champ Francis Ngannou defend his title against Jon Jones who is going up to the heavyweight division after vacating his light-heavyweight title. That fight never got materialized as Jones wanted a heavy amount to fight Ngannou and UFC decided to pay that.

Now UFC has decided to make the interim title fight between top-ranked fighters, Derrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane. In all these fights, there was not even a single mention of Stipe Miocic which has frustrated him.

Recently in the comments of an Instagram post by ONE Championship that asked which fighter fans would like to see ONE FC sign next, to which Miocic replied by putting his name in it by adding thinking emojis.

When asked by a fan about having to wait for the UFC 265 interim heavyweight title main event between Ciryl Gane and Derrick Lewis to take place, Miocic expressed his frustration due to such a weird situation in his career. He stated that when DC lost to him in their second fight he was given an immediate rematch while there has been no talk for the trilogy fight between Miocic and Ngannou.

“I shouldn’t have to wait for the winner,” Miocic wrote. “I have the most heavyweight title defenses of all time … we’re 1:1 but DC got instant rematches and trilogies against me?”

Recently UFC president Dana White was asked questions about Stipe Miocic and what should be next for him.

“This is the fight that makes sense (Lewis vs. Gane) right now and again, Stipe after that fight (Ngannou), he’s getting up there in age, he needs some time to recover after fights like that, so I think it’s a perfect scenario. You got Lewis who beat Francis, Ciryl Gane who’s one of the up-and-coming guys, undefeated. They fight for the interim heavyweight championship and the winner will face Francis, and then the winner of that will probably end up facing Stipe.”

What do you guys think of the way UFC is handling Stipe Miocic?
