Thai striking ace Superbon does not fear anyone, and that includes his next opponent, #1-ranked featherweight kickboxer Giorgio Petrosyan.

Superbon takes on the Armenian-Italian icon for the inaugural ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title at ONE: FIRST STRIKE on Friday, 15 October.

Superbon has won many World Titles throughout his acclaimed career, but a victory against a kickboxing GOAT for a ONE World Title could top it all. He understands the challenge his foe brings and admits he wants to be the man to snap Petrosyan’s win streak that dates back to 2013.

“I will consistently press forward and keep striking to get a clean hit. If we have a chance to trade blows, I will not hesitate to do so,” the 31-year-old said.

However, Superbon knows straightforward tactics alone will not power him past “The Doctor.”

The martial artist expects a real chess match when they clash next week, one which could go the distance.

“This fight will be a great test of our wits and tactics. It’s hard to predict how the game will turn out, and it’s hard to knock him out because he is a high-level fighter,” he added.

“Also, we both will do everything to hide our flaws so we don’t get knocked out. I think each of us will likely outscore the other round by round and end up with a decision.”

Besides putting in an immense amount of work in his training camp at Khun Suek Muay Thai Gym, the #2-ranked featherweight kickboxing contender has also thoroughly studied his opponent’s arsenal.

It has allowed him to get a better understanding of Petroysan’s strengths, and more importantly, the Milan native’s weaknesses – something he plans on exploiting during their epic main event showdown.

“After I studied Petrosyan’s previous fights, I found that he couldn’t take knees so well,” Superbon said.

“His danger lies in his striking techniques. He can land punches, and he kicks with incredible power and precision. However, I will counteract him by making a move first and attacking him whenever I see a chance.”

Chances don’t come easy against Petrosyan, and the Thai superstar admits he will use every inch of opportunity to leave the ring with the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title.

Superbon has been on a remarkable run as of late, and his latest victory against Sitthichai “Killer Kid” Sitsongpeenong shows what fans in India can expect when he trades leather with a much tougher opponent.

“I have no weaknesses. My strength is that I am a well-rounded fighter. Also, with my Muay Thai background, I can adapt my versatile Muay Thai skills to kickboxing. And, I’ve been through more experiences than him,” he said.
