Dreams could become reality for Sweden’s Johanna Persson when she challenges longtime ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues in the main event of ONE Fight Night 33 on 12 July at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.

The 30-year-old WBC Muay Thai World Champion will make her promotional debut in the biggest fight of her career, stepping directly into a title shot after seven years of relentless dedication to “the art of eight limbs.”

Persson faces a formidable challenge in the 27-year-old Brazilian champion, who has ruled the atomweight division for five years with an iron fist.

Rodrigues has defeated former three-sport queen Stamp Fairtex, former two-sport titleholder Janet Todd, and former ISKA World Champion Cristina Morales during her dominant reign.

Most recently, the Phuket Fight Club representative dismantled British challenger Marie McManamon, finishing her in the fourth round via TKO this past March.

For Persson, earning this opportunity represents the culmination of years of hard work and sacrifice.

“It means everything. I can’t actually describe how big of a dream this is,” Persson said. “It’s a testament to what I’m doing is working, it’s a milestone for all my hard work over the past six to seven years.”

The Swedish challenger brings an aggressive, forward-pressing style that has served her well throughout her career.

Her approach combines technical skill with relentless pressure that has overwhelmed opponents.

“I love to push the pace and press forward. David Lehnberg, head coach says I’m a bit of a muay mat (punching-heavy style), and I could be a muay femur (technical) if I want to,” Persson said. “But, always, my main goal is to press forward and conquer a fight. I want to implement my rhythm in a fight.”

When it comes to her prediction for the championship bout, Persson is supremely confident in her finishing ability.

“It’s going to be done with elbows. That’s all I can say,” she said.
